Annual Cruthú Quiz

Annual Cruthú Quiz-  Friday 4th October in Hennessy’s Lounge Blessington.   Now in its 101st year!!!!!!!!!!!!  A fundraiser for the group, but always great fun.  If anyone would like to help with raffle, or correcting question on the night please get in touch.

Blessington Tourist Office:

As you may be aware, Blessington Tourist Office has moved location from behind the Credit Union to the shop unit beside Dunnes stores where we held our Christmas pop up shop.

Cruthú has been invited to exhibit work in the office as a showcase for the group and for sale.    The committee are currently making plans to manage a rotating display of members work.  All members can apply to exhibit.  When details are worked out, we will be back in touch.  In the meantime, member Judy Lawler will exhibit a piece on a temporary basis to hold the space and at the Tourist Office request to start the project asap.

Annual Artfest on Sunday 28th July

We have decided to hold our Annual Artfest on Sunday 28th July.  This coincides with the RSHI Annual Garden Event.  This will guarantee a good footfall and takes away the necessity of any big promotion on our part.  Most premises members are currently up to quota with their art allotment – or have already been invited to submit more.  If non premises members would like to drop in a few pieces for the Artfest, please bring them along before Sunday 28th labelled etc.  Text Sally or Judy Lawler to let them know they are there,

Weather permitting, we will have a couple of outdoor gazebos for children’s art tables.  We will also be joined by Erika Tyner and Anne Cullen who will give a preview of their 2020 ‘Discovering Wicklow’ Art project which will be hosted in Cruthú next Spring as part of a Wicklow wide tour.  Any member who would like to attend and give a demonstration of their work would be very welcome.  We are also looking for offers of a couple hours rota help on the day to be available to represent Cruthú and talk to visitors.  Please get in touch with committee by text / WhatsApp / or email.

Would you like Practical Support with:

  • Developing Leadership Skills to help sustain your community group
  • Managing difficulties within a group
  • How to Motivate & Inspire others

Are you interested in attending an introductory course in Community Group Leadership in West Wicklow in Autumn 2019 with an experienced facilitator – there will be no cost involved for participants

Duration 2hrs * 4 weeks  (location, day & time To Be Confirmed depending on interest)

An Tearmann Kilcullen Exhibition

We have been invited to exhibit again this year in An Tearmann Café in Kilcullen from mid June.  This has been a popular exhibition for a number of years now.  Art is limited to 1 piece per applicant and space is limed.  As per previous years we cannot manage very large or heavy frames. Please reply by email by Friday 31st May with your request to exhibit – Mark Subject AN TEARMANN.  Details regarding art drop off etc will be distributed to involved members nearer the time.

DUNLAVIN ART FESTIVAL  – JUNE 21-23

COMING UP – DUNLAVIN ART FESTIVAL  – JUNE 21-23

This is Cruthu’s 5th year to exhibit in Dunlavin.  We will be in the Window Showrooms Unit this year.  We have yet to assess hanging space and set up.  We are unlikely to have as much same as previous years, so submissions may be restricted.   This exhibition is open to ALL members.  Cost €15 to participate – to cover costs.  Exhibiting members need to be available to contribute to the set up and rota.  To help us plan for the exhibition, please reply

Friday 21st morning 10am -1pm to prepare hanging space.

Friday  21st  Afternoon 1pm – 3pm to finalise display.

Saturday 22nd :  12noon  – 3pm Rota

Saturday 22nd:  3pm – 6pm Rota

Sunday 23rd :    12noon  – 3pm Rota

Sunday 23rd:  3pm – 5pm Rota

You will need to be available to collect your art on the Sunday at approx. 5pm, or delegate to fellow member.  We will confirm drop off arrangements when we know who is participating.  It would be helpful if art can be dropped directly to Dunlavin on the Friday.  Arrangements can be made to leave art in Russborough if this is not possible.
